**Former NFL Coach Jack Del Rio Arrested for OWI in Wisconsin**
Former NFL coach Jack Del Rio, now a senior adviser to Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell, was arrested early on Friday on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a crash in Madison, Wisconsin. Del Rio, aged 61, was apprehended shortly after midnight when the vehicle he was driving collided with a street sign, broke through a fence, and finally came to a stop in a yard, as per a Madison Police incident report.
The incident reportedly took place west of the university campus and near Camp Randall Stadium at around 12:35 a.m. Witnesses at the scene guided officers to Del Rio, who had been seen walking away from the crash site. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
According to the police report, Del Rio "showed signs of impairment" and confessed to being the driver of the vehicle. He was subsequently arrested for a first-time operating while intoxicated (OWI) offense and was later released.
In response to the incident, Wisconsin Athletics issued a statement acknowledging their awareness and seriousness of the situation. They indicated that they are in the process of gathering additional information about the event involving their football staff member.
Jack Del Rio has had a distinguished career in football, previously serving as head coach for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oakland Raiders before joining Fickell's team at Wisconsin in August. Before his move to collegiate football, Del Rio was the defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders and had held similar roles with both the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. As a player, Del Rio had a career as a linebacker, playing for four different NFL teams.
