**Vikings Rookie QB J.J. McCarthy Undergoes Second Knee Surgery**

Vikings' rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy recently underwent a second surgery on his right knee. This comes after McCarthy initially had surgery to repair a torn meniscus. According to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, the second procedure was necessary to address swelling that developed as McCarthy ramped up his rehabilitation efforts. To further assist with his recovery, McCarthy also received a biologic injection.

Despite the setback, McCarthy remains on track to return for the 2025 season, as he was already slated to miss the entire 2024 season due to the initial injury. The Minnesota Vikings have made it clear that his absence in the upcoming season will not affect his anticipated comeback.

In the meantime, Sam Darnold continues to helm the quarterback position for the Vikings. Darnold's performance for the remainder of this season will be scrutinized closely to determine whether the team should retain him to compete with McCarthy for the starting role upon his return.

The Vikings' management and fans alike will be hoping for a smooth recovery for their promising rookie, as the team's future could significantly benefit from McCarthy's return at full strength.
