**George Clooney’s Historic Broadway Performance to Be Televised Live on CNN**

In a groundbreaking move for live theater, George Clooney's Broadway debut in "Good Night, and Good Luck" will be broadcast live from the Winter Garden Theatre by CNN on June 7. This live telecast marks the first time a Broadway performance has been televised live by the network.

Following the broadcast at 7 p.m. ET, CNN plans to air a special discussing the production and examining the current state of global journalism. In "Good Night, and Good Luck," Clooney stars as Edward R. Murrow. The play delves into the era of McCarthyism, showcasing Murrow and his team’s brave decision to challenge the pervasive atmosphere of paranoia and propaganda, even at personal and professional risk.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Clooney stated, “I can't tell you how exciting it is to do something that's never been done. CNN is the perfect place to bring this story of courage to so many more people than we could have ever hoped. Live TV. No net. Buckle up everyone.”

The live broadcast is produced by Den of Thieves, with Clooney, Deena Katz, Grant Heslov, Jeff Skoll, and Todd Wagner serving as executive producers, alongside Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager, and Barb Bialkowski from Den of Thieves. The production is co-directed by Grant Heslov and Micah Bickham.

"Good Night, and Good Luck" has been highly successful, breaking the previous box office record held by "The Music Man" and becoming the highest-grossing production in the history of the Shubert Organization. The play has received five Tony Award nominations, including a nod for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play for Clooney.

Clooney has a history of innovative live television projects. In 2000, he starred in a live telecast of the play "Fail Safe" alongside Richard Dreyfuss, Harvey Keitel, and Noah Wyle, which aired in black and white on CBS. In 1997, Clooney and Anthony Edwards created a live episode of "ER" titled "Ambush," which opened the fourth season of the NBC drama and was viewed by 42.7 million people.

This upcoming live broadcast from Broadway is another ambitious project for Clooney, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to blending the immediacy of live performance with the broad reach of television.
