The Miami Dolphins have claimed the top spot in the second annual NFL Players Association team report cards, moving up from their No. 2 ranking last year in the inaugural survey. The Washington Commanders remained at the bottom, ranking 32nd for the second consecutive year. Results of the report, which surveyed 1,706 players, were unveiled in Indianapolis during the NFL Scouting Combine. The Jacksonville Jaguars saw the most significant improvement, jumping from 28th last year to fifth this year.
An interesting finding from the report was the unanimous desire among players for facilities to address a rat infestation issue, particularly highlighted by the Jaguars players. The team responded by unveiling new facilities at the beginning of training camp this year. The Kansas City Chiefs, despite being back-to-back Super Bowl champions, surprisingly ranked 31st due to poor facilities and an owner perceived as reluctant to invest in improvements.
NFLPA president JC Tretter noted that the Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings were in a league of their own, ranking first and second, respectively. The Green Bay Packers followed in third place, with the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars rounding out the top five. On the other hand, the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Washington Commanders were ranked at the bottom of the list, in that order.
As the NFLPA report sheds light on player perceptions of team facilities and ownership, it underscores the significance of creating optimal environments for players across the league.
