**Aaron Rodgers to Wear No. 8 Jersey with Pittsburgh Steelers**

The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially confirmed that Aaron Rodgers will don the No. 8 jersey following his recent signing. This number holds significance for Rodgers, who wore it during his time with the Jets over the last two seasons and during his college career at Cal.

Rodgers is notably recognized for his long tenure with the Green Bay Packers, where he sported the No. 12 jersey for 18 years. However, the Jets had retired No. 12 in honor of Joe Namath, prompting Rodgers to adopt No. 8. Although the Steelers have not officially retired No. 12, it is preserved in tribute to Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw's past criticisms regarding the Steelers' decision to sign Rodgers could have made sharing his iconic number contentious.

Prior to Rodgers' arrival, No. 8 was worn by Steelers punter Corliss Waitman. It is likely that Waitman will receive some form of compensation for relinquishing his number to the new quarterback.
