Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch has reached a resolution with city prosecutors in his Las Vegas DUI case from 2022. Records from the Las Vegas Municipal Court show that Lynch entered an agreement during a hearing that took place Wednesday morning, just an hour before his trial was set to begin. As part of the agreement, Lynch submitted to a misdemeanor count of DUI, with other charges for operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to drive in a travel lane being dropped.

Under the terms of the agreement, Lynch will serve 200 hours of community service, attend a victim impact panel class, complete DUI school, and stay out of trouble. Additionally, he is required to pay a $1,140 fine, with sentencing scheduled for May 21. If Lynch successfully fulfills the requirements, the DUI charge will be reduced to reckless driving, and he will receive credit for time served. However, failing to meet these terms could result in a guilty verdict for DUI and a suspended 179-day sentence.

In a statement released by Lynch's attorneys Richard Schonfeld and David Chesnoff, it was emphasized that Lynch has not yet been convicted of any offense. The attorneys also stated that Lynch has agreed to complete specific requirements that will lead to the case being closed as a reckless driving traffic offense.

Lynch was initially arrested on suspicion of DUI by Las Vegas police in August 2022, after officers found him asleep behind the wheel with the driver's seat reclined and the door open. Despite claiming he had not been drinking or using drugs, Lynch reportedly admitted to stealing the car. Police noted that he was uncooperative and required a restraint chair to facilitate a blood draw.

Having played in the NFL for 12 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, and Raiders, Marshawn Lynch's legal proceedings will continue with sentencing scheduled for May 21.
