In an effort to bolster their wide receiver corps, the Philadelphia Eagles have recently signed Parris Campbell to a one-year deal, according to reports. The move comes as no surprise, as the Eagles had previously shown interest in drafting Campbell back in 2019, but ultimately selected J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.

Campbell, who spent two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts under former Eagles assistant coach Nick Sirianni, had a promising start to his career marred by injuries. Throughout his rookie season, he suffered three different ailments, including an abdominal strain, fractured right hand, and foot fracture, causing him to miss a total of nine games. The following year, he missed most of the season due to an MCL/PCL sprain, as well as abdominal and foot sprains, resulting in his absence for 10 games in 2021.

However, Campbell bounced back in 2022 and managed to complete a full 17-game season for the Colts. He amassed 63 receptions for 623 yards and three touchdowns while providing 32 first downs. Despite his improved performance, Campbell failed to secure a second contract with the Colts and eventually signed with the New York Giants during free agency in 2023.

During his stint in New York, Campbell struggled to make an impact, playing in only 12 games and starting in just three. He recorded 20 catches for 104 yards and failed to score any touchdowns. In Week 14, he was unexpectedly benched and subsequently did not see any further action for the Giants.

Now, Campbell finds himself joining a talented receiving group in Philadelphia, which includes A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and DeVante Parker, along with several promising first and second-year players. With the addition of Campbell, it raises questions about the future roles of Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheaus within the Eagles' plans for the 2024 season.

Coming out of Ohio State in 2019, Campbell was highly regarded for his potential. However, as a second-round pick, he has yet to elevate his game to the desired level. The Eagles are hopeful that he can stay healthy and develop into a valuable asset on both offense and special teams.

Campbell's signing reflects the Eagles' ongoing efforts to enhance their offensive arsenal and provide more options for quarterback Jalen Hurts. Only time will tell if Campbell can fulfill his potential in Philadelphia and contribute to the team's success in the upcoming season.
