**Suspected Drunk Driver Almost Collides with Vice President Harris's Motorcade in Milwaukee**

A potentially catastrophic incident involving a suspected drunk driver narrowly missing Vice President Kamala Harris's motorcade occurred on Monday night in Milwaukee. According to an arrest report, the driver, a 55-year-old man, was found driving the wrong way on Interstate 94 and had an open can of beer in his vehicle.

The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was stopped by police after he was spotted traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of the highway around 8:30 PM local time. Upon being informed by a deputy that he nearly collided with a vehicle in the Vice-President’s motorcade, the man appeared extremely surprised and claimed to have no recollection of entering the freeway.

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, was in Wisconsin for a campaign event with former Republican lawmaker Liz Cheney held in Brookfield. The incident prompted immediate intervention by officers who conducted a field sobriety test, which the driver failed, leading to his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).

In a statement, a U.S. Secret Service spokesperson acknowledged the incident and expressed gratitude towards the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office for their prompt response that prevented potential harm. The spokesperson noted that the agency is "aware of the incident involving a motorist traveling in the opposite direction on the highway while the Vice-President was in her motorcade."

This event occurs against a backdrop of heightened security concerns, with acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe recently highlighting an "increased threat environment" as election day approaches. This incident follows another recent accident involving vans traveling with Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz, in Milwaukee, which left at least one person injured.

The Harris campaign has yet to comment on the latest incident. The close call underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security personnel during high-stakes political campaigns.
