### Ukraine Unveils Fragments from Latest Russian Missile Strike in Dnipro

Ukraine has presented journalists with fragments of a Russian missile used to strike the city of Dnipro, following Moscow's announcement of a successful test of the new Oreshnik ballistic missile. The strike occurred last Thursday and was confirmed by President Vladimir Putin as a demonstration of the new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM).

During a press briefing at an undisclosed location, Ukraine's SBU security service showcased metal debris from the missile. The fragments, varying in size from large pieces to tiny shards, were displayed on fake grass in front of a backdrop of camouflage netting. Investigators revealed that this was the first instance of encountering such missile debris on Ukrainian soil.

Oleg, an investigator from the SBU, emphasized the novelty of the missile, stating, “This item had not been documented by security investigators before.” The investigative team is currently examining the fragments to ascertain the missile's characteristics. Oleg confirmed that the ballistic missile caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure in Dnipro.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a televised address, claimed that the missile was employed in retaliation for Ukraine's use of US ATACMS and UK Storm Shadow missiles against Russian territory. Putin asserted that the Oreshnik missile flies at ten times the speed of sound, making it impervious to air defenses. He stated that the missile targeted a defense industry facility in Dnipro, which continues to produce missile equipment and weaponry.

Further confirmation of the target came during a Russian foreign ministry press briefing, wherein a spokesperson referenced a strike on Yuzhmash, now known as Pivdenmash, an aerospace manufacturer in Dnipro. Putin indicated that further combat tests of the Oreshnik missile are planned and that it will soon enter serial production.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, labeling it "the latest bout of Russian madness." He also called for enhanced air-defense systems to counter the new missile threat. Additionally, Ukraine's military intelligence head confirmed awareness of multiple prototypes of the missile prior to its deployment.

The incident underscores the escalating tensions and ongoing missile confrontations between Ukraine and Russia, with significant implications for both military strategy and civilian safety.
