In a shocking incident on Saturday night, a member of the U.S. Secret Service was allegedly robbed at gunpoint in the Tustin Fields residential community. The incident took place at around 9:40 p.m., as reported by the Tustin Police Department.
Upon receiving reports of a possible robbery, officers swiftly arrived at the intersection of Stratus Lane and Westwind Drive. They found the victim, who identified himself as a member of the U.S. Secret Service, stating that his bag had been stolen at gunpoint. The circumstances prompted the agent to open fire on the suspects as they fled the scene.
Despite the agent's return fire and recovery of some of their belongings, the alleged robbers managed to escape. It remains unclear whether any of the suspects were injured by the agent's gunfire. Security footage captured the escape vehicle, identified as a silver Infiniti FX35 or a similar model, believed to be from the years 2004 to 2006.
In an effort to solve the case, the Tustin Police Department has released the image of the escaping vehicle and is seeking public assistance in identifying those involved in the armed robbery. Detective Graciela Melendrez can be contacted via email or by calling 714-573-3372 with any information.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of law enforcement officials, even when they are off duty. Authorities are urging the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The search for the suspects is ongoing, and the Tustin Police Department is dedicated to bringing them to justice.
As investigations continue, the community remains on high alert, hoping for a swift resolution to this brazen crime.
