The entertainment community is mourning the loss of Jonathan Joss, best known for his role as Chief Ken Hotate on the hit NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation." Joss, aged 59, was fatally shot outside his San Antonio, Texas, home on Sunday, reportedly by a neighbor.

Chris Pratt, who rose to fame playing Andy Dwyer in "Parks and Recreation," expressed his grief on social media. "Damn. RIP Jonathan. Always such a kind dude," Pratt shared on his Instagram story this Monday. "Sad to see. Prayers up. Hug your loved ones."

Nick Offerman, who portrayed Ron Swanson in the series, disclosed to People magazine that the cast has been in communication since Joss' untimely death. "The cast has been texting together about it all day and we're just heartbroken," Offerman said. "Jonathan was such a sweet guy, and we loved having him as our Chief Ken Hotate. A terrible tragedy."

Even those outside the immediate "Parks and Recreation" family paid their respects. Cynthia Nixon, known for her role in "Sex and the City," posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. She shared, "Was devastated to learn of the killing last night of the wonderfully talented actor and musician Jonathan Joss, who my family and I enjoyed so much in Parks and Recreation."

Nixon also noted allegations from Joss' husband that the actor was targeted due to his sexuality. However, in a statement released on Monday, the San Antonio Police Department stated there is "no evidence" to suggest the killing was motivated by hate. They also mentioned that any new evidence could lead to a reassessment of the charges.

The incident involved a long-standing dispute between Joss and Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, the man arrested in connection with the shooting. Police records indicate that the two had been engaged in a heated back-and-forth for years, requiring mediation by a police crime prevention unit.

As investigations continue, the heartfelt tributes from Joss' colleagues and fans underline the impact he made both on and off the screen.
