### "King of the Hill" Actor Jonathan Joss Tragically Murdered in San Antonio
Jonathan Joss, known for his role as John Redcorn on the popular animated series "King of the Hill," was tragically shot and killed in San Antonio on June 1. The suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alavarez Ceja, reportedly confessed to the crime at the scene, according to multiple media sources.
Authorities arrived on Dorsey Drive around 7 p.m. to find Joss, 59, near the roadway. Despite efforts by officers and emergency medical services (EMS) to save his life, Joss was pronounced dead by EMS, as confirmed by the police in their statement.
The details of the timeline provided by the police indicate that Joss and his husband received a ride from a woman to collect mail from their former residence. Upon their arrival, Ceja approached them after parking his car behind the woman's vehicle, leading to an argument. The heated exchange quickly escalated into violence.
Tristan Kern de Gonzales, Joss' husband, claimed in a Facebook post made on June 2 that the fatal incident stemmed from homophobia and noted that the couple had faced ongoing threats. Gonzales recounted that threats were repeatedly reported to law enforcement but no action was taken. He described enduring years of harassment and even arson that destroyed their home in January, leading to the death of their three dogs.
According to Gonzales, the couple was mourning their dogs at the site when Ceja began shouting homophobic slurs before opening fire. Gonzales asserted that Joss had saved his life by pushing him out of harm's way, dying as a result.
Initial police statements indicated no evidence linking Joss' sexual orientation to the murder. However, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus later stated that this claim was premature and that investigators are now exploring the possibility that homophobia was indeed a motive.
Creators of "King of the Hill," Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, and Saladin Patterson, expressed their condolences, stating, "His voice will be missed...and we extend our deepest condolences to Jonathan's friends and family."
In addition to his memorable work on "King of the Hill," Joss appeared in other notable productions including "Parks and Recreation," "Ray Donovan," "Tulsa King," and "The Magnificent Seven."
