### Green Bay's Romeo Doubs Speaks Out After Suspension
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs is set to return to the lineup on Sunday against the Cardinals, following his unexpected suspension last week. Speaking with reporters for the first time since the incident, Doubs said he regrets how he handled the situation which led to his suspension.
Doubs was absent from practice last Thursday and Friday, and while he did not provide specific reasons for his absence, he refuted claims that it was due to dissatisfaction with his role in the offense. "No comment," was his response when asked directly about his role. He emphasized the importance of team success over individual roles, stating, "It's much bigger than just, obviously, me individually."
The receiver hinted at off-field issues and briefly mentioned mental health, though he maintained, "I'm doing fine." Despite the lack of detailed explanation, Doubs admitted, "I had some things going on... I absolutely wish I would've handled things differently. Stay in better communication."
Packers' general manager Brian Gutekunst handed down the suspension after Doubs missed crucial team activities, a decision not related to any health or family matters. Gutekunst stated, "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action."
Teammate Christian Watson noted that the team was working on "getting that togetherness and that family feeling back," indicating a focus on team unity. Head coach Matt LaFleur has confirmed Doubs' return, noting he did a "great job" in practice this week.
Doubs, a fourth-round draft pick in 2022, had a promising rookie season with 42 catches for 425 yards and three touchdowns. Last year, he advanced with 59 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns, joining Packers legends James Lofton and Sterling Sharpe with significant early-career stats. However, this season started slowly for him with only 12 receptions for 169 yards in the first four games.
Reflecting on the incident, Doubs addressed fans, downplaying the severity of the issue, stating, "It's not as big as what they think it is... I'm a ballplayer and I'm a team guy." As Doubs prepares to rejoin his team on the field, the focus remains on moving past the suspension and working toward team victories.
