### Colts Owner Jim Irsay Passes Away at 65

In a somber announcement today, the Indianapolis Colts revealed that their beloved owner, Jim Irsay, has passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was 65 years old.

Jim Irsay began his long and dedicated career with the Colts when he took over day-to-day management responsibilities in 1995 after his father, Robert Irsay, had a stroke. Upon his father's death in 1997, Jim officially became the team's owner.

"Jim's dedication and passion for the Indianapolis Colts, alongside his generosity and commitment to the community, were unmatched," said Colts COO Pete Ward in a statement. "Our deepest sympathies go to his daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson, as well as his entire family as we mourn with them."

Jim Irsay's connection to the Colts ran deep. Some of his most cherished memories stemmed from his youth when he worked in the training camps in Baltimore, forging close relationships with players, coaches, and staff. Before being appointed as the youngest general manager in team history in 1984, he gained extensive experience by working in every department within the organization. Under his ownership that began in 1997, the Colts secured numerous division titles and brought Indianapolis its inaugural Super Bowl Championship.

Beyond football, Irsay's impact was felt throughout the city and beyond. Known for his philanthropy, he never hesitated to assist countless organizations and individuals, deeply embedding his generosity in the fabric of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana. Music was another of Jim's great loves, and he derived immense joy from sharing his band and music collection with people around the world.

Jim Irsay is survived by his three daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, Kalen Jackson, and his 10 grandchildren. The Colts organization and fans everywhere will profoundly miss his caring and unique spirit, but his legacy of dedication, generosity, and passion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
