Explosion Rocks Bridgeport Apartment Building, Authorities Investigating

Authorities in Bridgeport, Connecticut, are currently investigating a blast that occurred early Thursday morning, causing significant damage to an apartment building and leading to the evacuation of approximately 150 people in the area. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim addressed the incident during a news conference, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. "Despite the fact that there are no reported injuries, it's a very serious incident and the building is being combed right now by law enforcement," Mayor Ganim stated.
Emergency services, including police officers and firefighters, swiftly responded to the multifamily home at around 12:27 a.m. ET. Firefighters on the scene discovered that the fire and extensive damage were caused by what they believe to be an explosive device, as revealed by Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter during the press briefing.
Chief Porter revealed that investigators have identified a person of interest, who is currently being questioned regarding their possible involvement in the incident. The Bridgeport Police Department Detective Bureau, in collaboration with the Connecticut State Police and the FBI, is working diligently to determine the origin and nature of the explosive device.
FBI New Haven Public Affairs Specialist Charles Grady assured the community that there is no longer a threat related to the explosion. "It appears to be an isolated incident," Grady stated. The investigation, however, will continue until all necessary information has been gathered.
As a precautionary measure, Geraldine Johnson Elementary School, located across the street from the affected apartment building, decided to close for the day due to the ongoing police activity in the area, according to Bridgeport Public Schools.
