**Lagway's Injury Less Severe Than Feared, Possible Return Against Texas**

In a challenging match against Georgia, Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway was sidelined with a hamstring injury, significantly impacting the team’s performance. The Gators ultimately fell to the Bulldogs 34-20 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville. However, recent updates have provided some optimism regarding Lagway's condition.

During the first half of the game, Lagway was forced to exit due to the injury and could be seen on the sidelines with crutches and a brace on his left leg. He underwent an MRI on Sunday, and at a Monday press conference, Florida head coach Billy Napier shared some encouraging news. "We’ve received positive information about DJ’s injury," Napier stated. "It's less significant than we initially feared, and there’s a pathway for him to recover and return. We’ll have a more definitive understanding by mid-week."

Despite his early departure, Lagway managed to make a notable impact during the game, delivering a 43-yard touchdown pass to give the Gators a 10-3 lead. This game marked Lagway's second start after stepping in for Graham Mertz, who suffered a season-ending injury against Tennessee. Lagway had previously led the Gators to a commanding 48-20 victory over Kentucky, amassing 305 total yards.

Lagway's season has seen him throw for 1,071 yards, with six touchdowns and five interceptions, maintaining a 60.9% completion rate. He had been sharing quarterback duties with Mertz, playing in every third series before Mertz's injury.

Following Lagway's exit in the Georgia game, third-string quarterback Aidan Warner, a walk-on transfer from Yale, took over. Warner struggled but managed to lead the offense on two scoring drives, finishing with 66 yards and an interception on 7 of 22 passes.

With Lagway's potential return on the horizon, the Gators are hopeful as they prepare for their upcoming game against Texas. His recovery progress will be closely monitored, and a clearer decision will be made as the week progresses.
