In a heartfelt message shared on social media on Monday, Ragnow revealed the arduous journey leading up to his decision to hang up his cleats. Despite his efforts to push through, he admitted that he could no longer ignore his body's signals and chose to prioritize his long-term health and family.

"These past couple of months have been very trying as I've come to the realization that my football journey is ending and I'm officially retiring from the NFL," Ragnow wrote. "I've tried to convince myself that I'm feeling good, but I'm not, and it's time to prioritize my health and my family's future." He expressed profound gratitude toward the Lions organization and their fans for their unwavering support throughout his career.

Ragnow, who turned 29 this past May, has been a cornerstone for the Lions since being selected in the first round of the 2018 draft. Over his career, he started in all 96 games he played, demonstrating remarkable consistency and dedication. His accolades include being named a three-time second-team All-Pro and earning four Pro Bowl selections, even as he battled through multiple injuries.

The Lions organization also received high praise from Ragnow. "The Lions organization has been absolutely incredible throughout this process," he noted. "I can't emphasize this enough, how grateful I am for this team and all the fans. It was an absolute honor going to battle for you all."

With his retirement, the Lions bid farewell to a player who truly embodied commitment and resilience. For Ragnow, the decision marks the beginning of a new chapter focused on well-being and family.
