Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay recently spoke out against reports suggesting that he had overdosed in December 2023. In an interview with Fox59, Irsay vehemently denied the overdose allegations, stating that he was actually treating a leg injury at the time.

The rumors surrounding Irsay's health began in December, when police were called to his Carmel, Ind., home. Responding to a report of an unconscious individual with blue skin, the police found Irsay unresponsive on his bathroom floor. He had a weak pulse, constricted pupils, and breathing difficulties.

After receiving a dose of Narcan, Irsay responded slightly and was subsequently transported to a hospital. However, the police report labeled the situation as an "overdose" and "overdose/poisoning." The report mentioned that it was unknown what substance Irsay had ingested prior to their arrival.

In January, the Colts announced that Irsay had missed a scheduled show for his band due to a "severe respiratory illness." Irsay later took to Twitter in February to provide an update on his health, stating that he was "on the mend."

Irsay addressed the December incident, clarifying that he was actually treating a leg injury that had developed into a serious hematoma. He revealed that he had undergone major surgery for his back/leg injury, which had resulted in his hospitalization. Irsay expressed frustration that his medical issues were being misconstrued as overdose or addiction-related.

The Colts owner criticized the use of the term "overdose" in the police report, emphasizing that they did not have all the information in that short amount of time. He emphasized that his priority was taking care of his leg, given the severe pain he was experiencing.

As the Colts prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft, Irsay assured fans that he remains in control of the franchise. While he will not attend the draft in person due to his recent surgery, he stated that he has a strong grip on the reins of the team. Irsay expressed excitement about the upcoming season, predicting a strong comeback for the Colts.

It is clear that Jim Irsay is determined to set the record straight regarding the rumors surrounding his health. As the NFL offseason progresses, all eyes will be on the Colts and their owner's recovery as they gear up for the upcoming season.
