In a day marked by escalating violence, Ukraine's Defense Forces clashed with Russian invasion troops on Sunday, engaging in combat 68 times along the frontlines. According to a report, the enemy launched four missile strikes and carried out 102 airstrikes, along with 80 attacks using Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) on Ukrainian positions and various settlements. Tragically, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties and caused significant damage to residential buildings and civil infrastructure facilities.
The Russian invaders employed ten Shahed-136/131 type one-way attack drones, with eight of them being intercepted. Russian airstrikes targeted several settlements, including Hrafske, Vovchansk, Mykolaivka, Vilkhuvatka, Ivanivka, Kislivka, Tabaivka, and Pishchane in the Kharkiv region, as well as Makiivka, Serebryanske Forestry in the Luhansk region. Russian artillery fire affected over 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions. The adversary maintained its military presence along Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, engaging in subversive activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to other war zones.
Despite the relentless attacks, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled seven enemy assaults in the Kupiansk axis, near Synkivka in Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian soldiers also repelled attacks in the Lyman direction, fending off five attacks near Terny and Yampolivka in Donetsk region, and six attacks near Bilohorivka in Luhansk region.
On the Bakhmut axis, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled seven assaults east of Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in Donetsk region. In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian soldiers continued to hold off the enemy's attempts to besiege the town. The Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully defended their positions, repelling five attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka, and 12 attacks south of Severne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhia axis, Ukrainian troops fended off seven attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne. In the Kherson axis, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continued to expand their existing bridgehead, despite facing significant losses. The adversary attempted six unsuccessful assaults on January 21 to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Ukrainian soldiers inflicted losses on enemy manpower and hardware, effectively exhausting the adversary along the entire front line. The Ukrainian Air Force conducted airstrikes on nine Russian manpower and weapons clusters, while missile troops targeted an enemy cluster, a command post, three artillery systems, and an air defense system.
According to the ISW think tank, Russia's air defense forces are struggling to effectively protect the airspace over the Leningrad region.
The situation remains highly volatile, with ongoing clashes and the loss of civilian lives. The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their courageous efforts to protect their territory and repel the Russian invasion, but the conflict shows no signs of abating.
