At least seven people lost their lives and 41 others sustained injuries following a series of significant overnight strikes by Russian forces across Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities reported Saturday morning that the strikes specifically targeted civilian and energy infrastructure in multiple regions.

"Russia continues its terror against civilians," stated Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha via social media. He highlighted the intensity of the attack, pointing out that "hundreds of drones and missiles rained down on Ukraine overnight," with Kharkiv experiencing a particularly severe assault.

In Kharkiv, a northeastern city in Ukraine, the Russian strikes resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injured 21 others, including an infant and a 14-year-old girl, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Additionally, another person was hurt in Kupyansk, a city southeast of Kharkiv, confirmed Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

Governor Syniehubov detailed the extent of the attacks on Kharkiv, revealing that Russia deployed 48 drones, five guided aerial bombs, four multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and three missiles. These strikes predominantly targeted residential areas and civilian infrastructure in the Kyivskyi and Osnovianskyi districts of the city.

Further south, in the port city of Kherson, Russian strikes claimed the lives of a married couple, aged 56 and 54, and injured 10 others in the surrounding region, according to Kherson Oblast Governor Olexandr Prokudin.

Eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast also suffered casualties with two fatalities and eight injuries reported following Russian strikes, stated Governor Vadym Filashkin. In Sumy Oblast, located in northeastern Ukraine, another individual was reported injured due to the strikes, as per the regional administration.

The widespread overnight assault saw a total of 215 projectiles launched by Russia. This included 206 drones, two ballistic missiles, six guided aircraft missiles, and one cruise missile, with the Ukrainian Air Force successfully neutralizing 174 of these projectiles.

Sybiha emphasized the need for continued global pressure on Moscow and steps to bolster Ukraine’s defenses. "To put an end to Russia's killing and destruction, more pressure on Moscow is required, as are more steps to strengthen Ukraine. Russia is a terrorist state, and it must be called such. It has already done more than enough to earn this title," he asserted.
