In a revelation about Ukraine's recent military operations, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed that a covert drone attack on Russian warplanes was executed using Ukrainian-made weapons. Speaking to Martha Raddatz in an exclusive ABC News interview for "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," Zelenskyy explained that the operation involved Russian truck drivers transporting what they believed to be harmless mobile cottages.
The drones used in the attack were cleverly concealed within these mobile houses, which featured retractable roofs. According to an insider source, once the mobile structures were in position, the roofs were remotely opened, allowing the drones to launch and carry out their mission. These unwitting drivers were simply doing their job, unaware of the deadly cargo they were actually transporting. "They didn't know anything. They just did their job," Zelenskyy stated.
The attack reportedly inflicted significant damage on Russian military assets, targeting airfields and damaging over 40 Russian bombers. This accounts for nearly one-third of Russia's strategic bomber fleet, delivering a substantial blow to their military capabilities.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the operation relied solely on Ukrainian-produced weaponry. "I wanted very much to use only what we produce and to have the separation be very clear," he noted, indicating a deliberate effort to avoid the use of equipment from allied nations.
This strategic move by Ukraine underscores not only their military capability but also their operational ingenuity, showcasing a significant and unexpected strike against Russian forces.
