New Hampshire officials have identified the gunman involved in the shooting at the New Hampshire Hospital in Concord. The shooter, identified as 33-year-old John Madore, was recently identified as transient and had stayed in a hotel in the Seacoast region of the state prior to the incident.

According to authorities, a state police trooper assigned to the facility shot and killed Madore after he had fatally shot a member of the hospital security, 63-year-old Bradley Haas. Haas, who was a New Hampshire Department of Safety security officer, was stationed at the hospital's front lobby entrance when the tragic incident occurred. Haas had previously served as a police chief in the nearby city of Franklin.

During a news conference held by New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella, it was revealed that Madore did not pass the metal detectors in the lobby area. Officials stated that they have video footage of the incident, indicating that the shooter did not manage to go further into the hospital.

In the aftermath of the shooting, authorities examined a U-Haul vehicle that was running in the hospital parking lot. Initially deemed suspicious, the vehicle was inspected with the assistance of a tactical robot. It was determined that the vehicle did not pose a threat to public safety. However, inside the U-Haul, several concerning items were discovered, including an AR-style rifle, a tactical vest, and multiple rounds of ammunition, according to New Hampshire State Police Col. Mark Hall.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and officials are currently working to determine what led Madore to commit this act of violence. The autopsies for both Madore and Haas are scheduled to take place on Saturday.

New Hampshire Governor expressed gratitude towards the individuals who responded to the shooting, stating that the tragedy could have been much worse. As the investigation progresses, authorities hope to provide more answers and gain a better understanding of the events that transpired at the New Hampshire psychiatric hospital on Friday.

This incident highlights the need for continued efforts to enhance security measures at critical facilities, ensuring the safety of both patients and healthcare workers.
