In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, ex-CIA officer Jason Hanson highlighted the necessity of self-defense training in a society where people have become increasingly self-absorbed. Hanson, who runs the Spy Escape & Evasion program with other former CIA and special operations personnel, believes that self-defense skills are more crucial than ever.

Hanson's remarks came in response to the viral video of former "Beverly Hills 90210" star Ian Ziering's confrontation with mini-bikers in Hollywood. Despite praising Ziering's ability to escape the attackers, Hanson advised that staying inside the car is the safest course of action in such situations.

The incident, according to Hanson, reflects the escalating violence in our culture, which he attributes to a lack of proper punishment. He argues that the absence of consequences for criminal behavior fuels further boldness and criminal activity. Comparing it to disciplining his own children, Hanson underlines the importance of imposing suitable penalties to prevent repetitive misconduct.

Hanson further explained, "If criminals continue to face minimal consequences such as slaps on the wrist or even being let off without prosecution, they will persist in engaging in activities like robbery and looting without fear of accountability."

The former CIA officer firmly believes that self-defense training is essential and in high demand. He operates the Spy Escape & Evasion program, which offers civilians life-saving strategies and techniques. Despite a society filled with onlookers who would rather film than assist during violent incidents, Hanson stresses the importance of individuals being able to protect themselves.

While acknowledging that most people have good intentions, Hanson expressed his concern about the declining number of Good Samaritans. He suggests that fear of personal harm, potential lawsuits, and an increasingly self-centered society contribute to people's hesitation to intervene during attacks.

For those who do decide to intervene, Hanson advises following certain protocols to ensure personal safety and avoid exacerbating the situation. He recommends stepping in quickly to prevent further harm to the victim.

Jason Hanson gained recognition for his self-defense training course on ABC's "Shark Tank" in 2014 and has since authored a best-selling book, "Spy Secrets That Can Save Your Life." He recently opened "Spy Ranch," a 320-acre facility in Utah, offering comprehensive training in evasive driving, shooting, intelligence operations, and cybersecurity.

As violence continues to plague society, Hanson's emphasis on self-defense training serves as a reminder of the importance of personal safety and the need for individuals to be prepared to protect themselves in challenging situations.
