In a surprising turn of events, Zach Wilson's time with the New York Jets has come to an end as he lands with the Denver Broncos. The Jets announced on Monday that they have traded Wilson, along with a seventh-round pick, to the Broncos in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

Wilson, who was selected by the Jets as the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, had a turbulent tenure with the team. Despite his efforts, the Jets went 12-21 in his starts over the past three seasons. Now, Wilson finds himself joining a quarterback room in Denver that lacks a proven successful NFL starter.

One notable absence in the Broncos' quarterback room is Russell Wilson. The Broncos released him earlier this offseason, incurring a significant $85 million in dead cap to part ways with the quarterback after just two seasons. The decision to release Wilson came after he and head coach Sean Payton failed to find harmony in their working relationship.

At present, Jarrett Stidham is expected to be atop the depth chart for the Broncos. The 27-year-old quarterback started the team's final two games this past season when Wilson was benched as a precautionary measure to avoid triggering the injury guarantee in his contract. Stidham also made two starts for the Raiders in 2022. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and served as a backup to Tom Brady in his rookie season, followed by backing up Cam Newton and Mac Jones in subsequent years.

Another quarterback currently under contract with the Broncos is Ben DiNucci. DiNucci started one game for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 and served as their backup in 2020 and 2021. After a brief stint with the XFL's Portland Sea Dragons in 2023, he signed with the Broncos in May of that year.

It remains to be seen whether the Broncos will look to add more quarterbacks to their roster through the upcoming NFL Draft, trades, or free agency. In fact, in a recent mock draft by The Post's Steve Serby, the Broncos were projected to select Oregon quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick.

As Zach Wilson begins the next chapter of his career in Denver, fans and analysts alike will be keeping a close eye on how the Broncos navigate their uncertain quarterback situation. Will Wilson rise to the occasion and solidify his place as the starting quarterback for the Broncos, or will other options be explored? Only time will tell.
