**Yannick Ngakoue Joins New England Patriots Amid Season Struggles**

Yannick Ngakoue's journey through the NFL continues as he joins the New England Patriots. The Patriots, currently holding a 2-7 record, claimed Ngakoue off waivers following his release from the Baltimore Ravens. Ngakoue’s most recent tenure with the Ravens began when he was signed to their active roster on October 15, following a stint on their practice squad which started on September 23.

Before joining the Ravens, Ngakoue was free to sign with any team at any point. Had the Ravens released him before the trade deadline, he would have re-entered free agency. However, post-deadline rules require all released players to go through waivers, a process which ultimately led him to the Patriots.

The decision by the Ravens to waive Ngakoue, rather than release him before the deadline, is unclear. Had he been cut, he would have been entitled to termination pay. By opting for the waiver process, the Patriots took over the remaining balance of Ngakoue’s prorated contract, set at the veteran minimum of $1.21 million.

This move to New England marks the seventh team for Ngakoue, who entered the NFL in 2016 as a fourth-round pick. His previous teams include the Jaguars, Vikings, Raiders, Colts, and Bears. With his second term in Baltimore recently concluded, Ngakoue is set to bring his experience to the Patriots as they navigate their challenging season.
