In their debut WNBA season, rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have shown that they are ready to take the league by storm. While Clark, the No. 1 overall pick, received the most votes for the upcoming All-Star Game, Reese has been on a record-breaking streak, notching an incredible 15 consecutive double-doubles.

Despite Clark's pre-season favoritism for the Rookie of the Year award, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley believes that Reese is currently the frontrunner. Staley praised Reese's remarkable consistency and her ability to dominate the boards with double-digit rebounds in every game.

Staley acknowledged that both rookies have been outstanding, but she couldn't deny Reese's edge in the race for the Rookie of the Year title. She emphasized that Reese's impressive string of double-doubles makes her the clear choice at the moment. However, Staley also recognized Clark's potential and warned that she shouldn't be underestimated.

Clark has been lighting up the scoreboard with her scoring and playmaking abilities. She recently achieved her fifth consecutive double-double with 20 points and 13 assists. Moreover, she has been consistently dishing out 13 assists in each of her last three games. Clark's performance has showcased her well-rounded skills and undeniable talent.

When it comes to statistics, Reese is leading the way with an average of 13.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, shooting at an impressive 41.1% from the field. Meanwhile, Clark is posting 16.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 40.3% overall and 34% from beyond the arc.

Reese's dominance on the boards has made her one of only four players averaging a double-double this season. Her 11.8 rebounds per game currently lead the entire WNBA, while Clark's 7.8 assists per game rank second in the league. Among rookies, Clark and Reese claim the top two spots in points per game.

Looking ahead, Staley added that the Rookie of the Year race may come down to the success of their respective teams in the second half of the season. Both Clark's Indiana Fever and Reese's Chicago Sky are in playoff contention, with the Fever grabbing seven wins in their last 11 games and making an impressive comeback after a shaky start.

With two more games left before the extended Olympic break, Clark and Reese will have further opportunities to showcase their skills and solidify their positions as top contenders for Rookie of the Year. The WNBA All-Star Game, where Clark will represent the fan-favorite vote, is scheduled for July 20, promising an exciting showdown between these impressive rookies.

As the WNBA season progresses, all eyes will be on Clark and Reese as they continue to make waves and prove that the future of the league is in good hands.
