In response to potential salmonella contamination, Wenders LLC, based in Dublin, California, is issuing a recall for certain lots of Trader Joe's 50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on Monday, urging consumers in 16 states to be cautious.
The affected cashews, carrying SKU Number 37884, were sold in Trader Joe's stores across several states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington. The specific lot numbers subject to this recall are T12139, T12140, T12141, and T12142.
Salmonella, a potentially dangerous bacterium, has been found in some of the recalled cashews. The FDA has warned that salmonella infection can lead to severe symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. It is especially dangerous for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
While most healthy individuals recover from salmonella without medical intervention, the FDA advises consumers who have purchased the recalled cashews to refrain from consuming them. Instead, they should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
This recall comes shortly after the FDA's announcement regarding the recall of certain Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews sold at Walmart due to incorrect labeling. It is recommended that consumers pay close attention to product recalls and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
For more information, individuals can contact Wenders LLC directly or reach out to Trader Joe's customer service. The FDA continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent any further health risks associated with these cashews.
