In a significant food safety alert, a California-based company is recalling nearly 2 million dozen eggs over concerns of Salmonella contamination. The August Egg Company announced the recall, which affects their brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs. This recall comes after the same outbreak strain of Salmonella has been linked to 79 reported illnesses across seven different states.

The distribution timeline for the affected eggs spans from February 3 to May 6, with sell-by dates ranging from March 4 to June 19. These eggs were supplied to Walmart locations in Arizona and eight additional states. Consumers who may have purchased these eggs are urged to check for specific identifying markers to confirm whether their products are part of the recall.

To identify the recalled eggs, look for cartons or packages labeled with the plant code numbers P-6562 or CA5330. The Julian Dates on these cartons will fall between 32 and 126. The eggs in question are packaged in either fiber or plastic cartons.

For more detailed information, including a complete list of the recalled products, individuals should refer to the CDC's recall announcement. Ensuring that consumers are informed and cautious about these specific products can help prevent further cases of illness.
