### Patrick Graham Thriving Under Pete Carroll's Leadership as Raiders' Defensive Coordinator
The Las Vegas Raiders, now under the guidance of head coach Pete Carroll, are experiencing a blend of continuity and fresh perspectives on their coaching staff. Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who initially joined the team in 2022 under Josh McDaniels, has remained a steadfast presence through subsequent coaching changes. He continued his role when Antonio Pierce took over as interim head coach in 2023 and has once again been retained under Carroll's leadership in 2025.
Graham expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with the seasoned Carroll, a coach lauded for his extensive experience and track record of success. "Anytime you get a chance to work with someone with that experience, that level of success, I couldn't be happier," Graham told reporters on Wednesday. He emphasized how beneficial it has been to exchange ideas and insights with Carroll, highlighting that this opportunity has significantly contributed to his professional growth. "It's been really beneficial for my growth, if I'm being selfish. It's just something really good and positive for me," Graham noted.
One area where Carroll's impact has been particularly noticeable for Graham is in the coaching of defensive backs. "I'm being a sponge anytime he's talking to those guys," Graham said, pointing out the energy and expertise Carroll brings when teaching the position. "We’re watching a master teacher working at his craft and seeing it live and in person. This is really beneficial for us," he added, indicating the positive effect that Carroll's methods and vigor are having on the team.
As Graham gears up for the upcoming season with the Raiders, he remarked on the unique nature of each football season. Though every year presents different scenarios, the optimism remains high within the team under Carroll's vision. "Each season is so different," Graham explained. "But I just know that this group of men right here, they're forming a bond. They're understanding how it's based on relationships here. And the biggest thing that we have to focus on right now - it's not real, true football, but we've got to play with great effort."
Graham’s comments reflect a sense of renewal and commitment within the Raiders as they prepare for the 2025 season. With Carroll setting the tone, the team is fostering a positive, energetic environment aimed at achieving high-level performance and strong camaraderie.
