**Steelers Renew Trade Talks with Dolphins for Pro Bowl Tight End Jonnu Smith**

In an unexpected twist, the Pittsburgh Steelers have reignited trade discussions with the Miami Dolphins regarding tight end Jonnu Smith. This news comes just hours after ESPN's Adam Schefter initially reported that the Steelers were not anticipated to pursue a trade for Smith. According to Schefter, a potential deal between the two teams is "still alive."

Discussions about trading for Smith first surfaced last Thursday. The tight end himself has shown a willingness to renegotiate his current contract, which aims to pay him $4.8 million for the season. Smith is slated to become a free agent in March next year.

Smith, who earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2024, set franchise records for the Dolphins with 88 catches, 884 yards, and eight touchdowns in that season. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel emphasized Smith's importance to the team's offense, making it clear that Miami is keen on retaining him.
