In a recent FDA enforcement notice, it has been revealed that several popular products produced by a well-known soda company have been recalled due to the failure to declare multiple chemicals and preservatives. Among the undisclosed ingredients is a dye that has been linked to cancer, as stated by the FDA.

The voluntary recall affects four beverages from the Charles Boggini Company, which are widely sold at restaurants across the United States. Restaurants and food establishments are urged to take note of this recall and ensure the affected products are removed from their inventory.

The recalled drinks include Pink Lemonade, Cola Flavoring Base, Yellow Lemonade, and Yellow Lemonade X, which are sold in sizes of one gallon and five gallons. The specific concern for Pink Lemonade is the presence of FD&C Red No. 40 dye, a commonly used red dye in food, drugs, and cosmetics that has been linked to colorectal cancer.

Additionally, it was discovered that both Yellow Lemonade and Yellow Lemonade X contain FD&C Yellow No. 5, a dye known to cause allergic reactions in certain individuals. The Cola Flavoring Base was found to contain sulfites, a common preservative that can potentially cause respiratory issues when consumed in significant quantities.

Although the recall was categorized as voluntary by the FDA, the Charles Boggini Company has not confirmed the recall nor responded to requests for comment at this time.

According to FDA regulations, companies are required to transparently disclose the use of any dyes, preservatives, and other chemicals in their manufacturing processes. Failure to comply with these requirements can lead to recalls or fines.

Consumers who may have purchased these products are advised to check the FDA's website for more information on the specific product codes and expiration dates included in the recall. It is recommended that anyone who has purchased the affected products discontinue their use and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

As concerns over product safety continue to rise, consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and informed about the potential risks associated with the products they consume.
