### Seahawks Shake Up Linebacker Corps by Releasing Starter Tyrel Dodson

In a notable adjustment to their inside linebacker lineup, the Seattle Seahawks announced the waiver of starter Tyrel Dodson. This move follows a challenging stretch where the team suffered five losses in their last six games, dropping their record to 4-5 and placing them last in the NFC West.

Head coach Mike Macdonald, in his first year, had hinted at broad evaluations during the team's bye week. Amongst the changes was the linebacking group, which has witnessed several alterations. Initially, the Seahawks had transitioned Jerome Baker out for Ernest Jones IV, with Jones moving to the middle linebacker position after being acquired from the Tennessee Titans on October 23 in exchange for Baker and a fourth-round draft pick. To accommodate Jones, Dodson shifted to the weakside linebacker position for the past two games.

Dodson, 26, had been with the Seahawks for nine games this season, having signed a one-year contract worth $4.26 million in March. His contract included a $1 million signing bonus, a $2.25 million base salary, $760,000 in per-game roster bonuses, and a $250,000 workout bonus. Despite leading the team with 71 tackles and contributing 2.0 sacks, five tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and two passes defensed, Dodson now faces the waiver wires.

With Dodson's departure, the Seahawks are likely to give opportunities to rookie fourth-round pick Tyrice Knight and second-year player Drake Thomas at weakside linebacker. To fill Dodson's roster spot, the Seahawks promoted cornerback Josh Jobe from their practice squad.

Additional adjustments were made by the Seahawks on Monday. Safety K'Von Wallace was placed on injured reserve after suffering an ankle injury in Week 9, sidelining him for at least the next four games. In a corresponding move, the team claimed nose tackle Brandon Pili off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. Pili, undrafted from USC, recorded four tackles in 12 games over the past two seasons with Miami before being waived.

Moreover, the Seahawks bolstered their practice squad by signing veteran tight end N'Keal Harry.
