### Tempers Flare in New York Giants Practice, Leading to Early End
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Tensions reached a boiling point during the New York Giants' organized team activity (OTA) session on Thursday, leading to an unexpected early conclusion of the practice. The altercations began when outside linebacker Brian Burns clashed with offensive lineman James Hudson, who was standing in for the injured Andrew Thomas at first-team left tackle. The two players had to be separated and sent to opposite sidelines.
The situation escalated on the next play as Kayvon Thibodeaux and right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor became entangled in their own skirmish. Hudson and Burns, still fired up, rushed back to the field and joined the fray.
Coach Brian Daboll promptly gathered the players for an extended team huddle, which marked the abrupt end of the practice session. Despite the huddle, Thibodeaux appeared visibly agitated even as the players dispersed.
Reflecting on the incidents, Brian Burns attributed the altercations to the sweltering heat, stating, “Heat got to us.” The temperature in the TriState area soared up to 90 degrees, marking the first genuinely hot day of the summer season.
“It’s a violent sport we play. Guys trying to get better. You know it’s just tensions raised a little high,” said Burns. “This happens all the time. We fight over food. We fight over ping pong, pool, whatever it is. This ain't nothing but a little brotherhood."
While Burns acknowledged that such skirmishes can be beneficial to a certain extent, he emphasized the importance of not letting them disrupt practice sessions. “That competition and that dog, that edge that we need to have is needed. When you have fights, you don't want it to get in the way of reps. Keep it to a minimum,” he added.
Quarterback Russell Wilson downplayed the altercations, attributing them to the competitive nature of practice. “Every great team I've been on, there's been a couple of those. But our guys are all so connected. That sometimes happens. But nothing to worry about,” Wilson said.
Thursday’s practice was the second OTA open to the media. The Giants have one more OTA session open to the public next week, culminating in mandatory minicamp on June 17-18.
