**San Francisco 49ers Shake Up Roster with Key Additions and Waivers**

The San Francisco 49ers have made significant adjustments to their roster, signing wide receiver Malik Knowles to a one-year contract and officially adding edge rusher Bryce Huff after he passed his physical. These moves have consequently led to the waiving of offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere and the placement of wide receiver Trent Taylor on Injured Reserve.

Malik Knowles, aged 24, was an undrafted free agent from the 2023 NFL Draft. His professional journey has included time with the Minnesota Vikings over two seasons, with a brief stint at the Green Bay Packers. Despite this experience, Knowles has yet to play in an NFL game.

Nicholas Petit-Frere, originally signed by the 49ers last month for tackle depth, was waived to create room for the new additions. Petit-Frere, who started his career with the Tennessee Titans as a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, finds himself back in free agency. The 49ers have decided to rely on Andre Dillard and Austen Pleasants as their backup tackles moving forward.

As for Bryce Huff, he joins the 49ers officially with a conditional pick and a $17 million non-guaranteed salary arrangement for 2026. Huff's addition required another roster spot, which was made available by sending Trent Taylor to Injured Reserve. Taylor, who appeared in just two games last season and had minimal impact on special teams, now makes way for Huff’s entry.

These roster changes come just ahead of the 49ers' mandatory minicamp next weekend, ensuring that the team will enter the field with a slightly adjusted lineup. The 49ers are looking to optimize their squad ahead of the crucial training period.
