### Rutgers Football Loses Another Defensive Veteran for the Season

Rutgers University’s football team has suffered another setback with the announcement that defensive end Wesley Bailey will miss the remainder of the season. The news was reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Saturday morning, indicating Bailey will not return to action this year.

Bailey has played four games this season, in which he accumulated nine tackles, nine pressures, including one sack, two quarterback hits, six quarterback hurries, and a pass defended over 150 snaps, according to ProFootballFocus. This limited playtime allows him to redshirt and retain one more year of eligibility after this fall.

He becomes the sixth significant player from Rutgers to be ruled out for the season. Other players who are sidelined include linebacker Mohamed Toure, left guard Bryan Felter, running back Samuel Brown V, and tight ends Kenny Fletcher and Victor Konopka.

Throughout his career with the Scarlet Knights, Bailey recorded a total of 69 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and seven passes defended in 1,351 snaps across 36 games. His performance was particularly notable in the 2022 season, leading the team with 3.5 sacks.

The loss of Bailey further impacts the depth and experience of the Rutgers defense as they navigate through the remainder of the season.
