Real Madrid secured their record-extending 15th Champions League title with a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium. Despite being considered heavy underdogs, the Bundesliga side pushed the LaLiga champions to their limits in an intense match.

The match witnessed a nail-biting first half where Dortmund dominated the play. Julian Brandt, Niclas Füllkrug, and Karim Adeyemi had clear chances to give Dortmund the lead, with Füllkrug coming closest when his shot struck the post. Real Madrid struggled to find their rhythm, and former Dortmund player Jude Bellingham was effectively contained by his former teammates.

However, Real Madrid weathered the storm and displayed their championship pedigree in the second half. Full-back Dani Carvajal found the back of the net, scoring his first Champions League goal since 2015. This breakthrough provided the necessary momentum for Real Madrid, as young sensation Vinícius Júnior sealed the victory with a well-taken goal in the 83rd minute.

Speaking after the match, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged the challenge Dortmund posed, stating, "Dortmund played really well, they were strong and better than us in the first half. But in that moment, you have to stay calm. It's a fantastic result 0-0 because they played better. The second half was better for us."

The result was not without its share of regrets for Dortmund, who were unlucky not to cause a massive upset on the same ground where they suffered a final defeat against Bayern Munich in 2013. Edin Terzic's team will rue the missed opportunities in the first half, particularly Füllkrug's shot off the post.

The match also marked a farewell for two German legends. Marco Reus made his final appearance for Dortmund as a substitute, while Toni Kroos bid adieu to the Madrid fans to a standing ovation in his last club game before retirement.

Reflecting on Real Madrid's dominance over the past decade, Ancelotti praised the team's incredible achievements, saying, "This generation of players, starting also from the players who are not here – Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale – did fantastic. Ten years, six victories is something unbelievable to think."

Real Madrid's triumph adds another chapter to their remarkable Champions League history. As they celebrate their 15th title, the club continues to solidify its status as one of the most successful teams in European football.
