### George Russell Criticizes Verstappen's Actions at Spanish Grand Prix

George Russell has criticized Max Verstappen, claiming the reigning world champion should have been disqualified after a controversial collision at the Spanish Grand Prix. Russell believes Verstappen's actions were deliberate and set a poor example for aspiring young drivers.

Following the race, Verstappen received a 10-second penalty that moved him from fifth place to tenth. However, the Dutchman dismissed Russell's grievances, responding flippantly, "Well, I'll bring some tissues next time," and expressing no regrets about the incident.

When asked whether he agreed with former world champion Nico Rosberg’s statement that Verstappen deserved disqualification, Russell didn't mince words. "If it was truly deliberate then absolutely," Russell stated. "You cannot deliberately crash into another driver. We are putting our lives on the line. We are fortunate the cars are as safe as they are these days but we shouldn't take it for granted."

Russell noted that the crash seemed intentional, something he had only ever witnessed in lower-tier racing like sim racing and go-karts. "It felt very deliberate. It is something I have seen numerous times in sim racing and go-karts. I have never seen it in a Formula One race," he added.

The incident occurred during the closing stages of the race when Verstappen, after being instructed by his team to let Russell pass, appeared to accelerate into the side of Russell’s Mercedes. Russell condemned the move, calling it "totally unnecessary" and expressed concern about the message it sends to young fans aspiring to be Formula One drivers.

Despite the controversy, Verstappen remained unrepentant. "He has his view, I have my view. It's better not to comment. In life you shouldn't regret too many things. [I have] no regrets," he said, opting not to engage further on the subject.

The race winner, Oscar Piastri, and his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, who finished second, both reserved judgment on the incident until they had seen it in more detail. However, Norris joked, "I've done that before... on Mario Kart," upon viewing the incident post-race.

The penalties for Verstappen also included three penalty points on his racing license, bringing his total to 11. One more point would result in a one-race ban, adding an additional layer of tension to the situation.
