In a surprising move, streaming platform Prime Video has announced that it will not be renewing the sci-fi/neo-western drama series Outer Range for a third season. The decision comes almost two months after the release of the show's seven-episode second season, which premiered on May 16.

Outer Range, created by showrunner Charles Murray, follows the story of rancher Royal Abbott, portrayed by Josh Brolin. Abbott finds himself in a battle to save his land and protect his family after encountering a baffling phenomenon on the outskirts of Wyoming's wilderness - a mysterious dark void. The second season delves further into the enigma of the void, with Royal and his wife Cecelia (Lili Taylor) struggling to hold their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter's disappearance.
