### Paris Olympics 2024 Propel Comcast's Peacock to New Heights

The Paris Olympics 2024 proved to be a major boon for Comcast's streaming service, Peacock. During the company's third-quarter earnings call on Thursday, it was revealed that Peacock's revenue surged by 82% year-over-year to $1.5 billion. This growth in revenue, coupled with a reduction in losses to $436 million from $565 million in the same period last year, marked a significant improvement for the service, despite the higher programming costs due to the Summer Games.

One of the standout achievements highlighted during the call was the increase in Peacock's subscriber base, rising from 33 million at the end of June to 36 million by the end of September. This boost can be largely attributed to the extensive coverage and popularity of the Paris Olympics, which captivated an average daily audience of 31 million across both linear networks and Peacock—a striking 82% increase compared to the previous Summer Games in 2021.

Financially, the Paris Olympics yielded record-breaking results for Comcast. The event generated an all-time high incremental media revenue of $1.9 billion, which included $1.43 billion from domestic advertising and $473 million from domestic distribution revenue. Comcast executives were quick to emphasize the profitability of the Paris Olympics, though specific figures were not disclosed.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and CFO Jason Armstrong both expressed immense pride in the successful execution and financial outcomes of the Games. They highlighted how the event not only bolstered Peacock's performance but also strengthened NBCUniversal's overall media presence.

The Summer Olympics also spurred a notable boost in the company's other segments, although higher sports content costs impacted adjusted quarterly EBITDA. Looking ahead, the anticipation is already building for the upcoming Olympic Games in Milan and Los Angeles, with Comcast promising more innovative and extensive coverage.

Overall, the Paris Olympics 2024 stands out as a triumph for Comcast, setting the stage for continued growth and success in the years to come.
