Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is scheduled for an arraignment and plea hearing on October 7th in Los Angeles County Superior Court following his citation last month for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), according to court records. Addison has been charged with two misdemeanors - driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher.

The incident took place when a West Los Angeles police officer discovered Addison asleep behind the wheel of a white Rolls Royce, which was blocking a lane of I-105 westbound near Los Angeles International Airport. The citation occurred at 11:36 p.m. PT, and Addison was released at 1:36 a.m.

In a statement to reporters upon his arrival at training camp last month, Addison acknowledged being in a "dark place" but expressed responsibility for his actions, saying, "Whatever's out there for me, whatever comes with it, I'll own up to everything. I feel like anything that comes my way is meant to happen or is deserved."

Once the legal proceedings are concluded, Addison could potentially face a suspension from the NFL. As per the league's policy and program on substances of abuse, for a first offense involving alcohol violations, the typical discipline is a suspension without pay of three regular or postseason games, barring any aggravating circumstances.

Interestingly, this incident occurred almost a year after Addison was cited for driving at a speed of 140 miles per hour on a Minnesota freeway. In that instance, he chose to plead guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge, while a reckless driving charge was dismissed. Addison paid $686 in fines as a result.

When asked about whether he believed he had underlying issues that needed addressing beyond football, Addison expressed a commitment to learning from his mistakes and moving forward. He stated, "I'm just going to keep learning. I'm saying that's all I can do, is just learn from my mistakes and keep moving forward. That's what it is."

As the court date approaches, the Minnesota Vikings organization will likely monitor the situation closely, with potential consequences for Addison's playing time and future within the team looming.
