In anticipation of the upcoming 30th anniversary of Nicole Brown Simpson's death, a new docuseries by Lifetime titled "The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson" sheds light on the woman behind the headlines. Set to air on June 1st and 2nd, the series portrays Nicole as a young woman who grew up in a seemingly idyllic family before her life took a dark turn.

Nicole's journey began when she moved into a friend's Hollywood apartment at the age of 18 and landed a job as a hostess at the Daisy, a famous restaurant and disco frequented by celebrities. It was there that she first caught the eye of O.J. Simpson, a famous NFL star who was 12 years her senior and already married, in June 1977.

Through interviews with Nicole's sisters - Denise, Dominique, and Tanya Brown - as well as previously unseen home videos, viewers gain insight into Nicole's life and the turbulent relationship she had with O.J. According to family friends, O.J. wooed her with a lavish lifestyle and soon moved her into his luxurious Brentwood estate, where he molded her into the image of a Hollywood trophy wife. However, abuse quickly entered their relationship, as revealed in Nicole's diaries which documented her bruises and were kept in a safe deposit box.

Following their divorce, Brown's friends and family claim that O.J. continued to stalk her and even hid outside her home. The docuseries features testimonies from Nicole's close friends, including Kris Jenner, Faye Resnick, Robin Greer, and Kato Kaelin, as well as former police officers and detectives who were involved in responding to Nicole's distressing 911 calls and investigating the fatal stabbings of Nicole and Ron Goldman on June 12, 1994.

One particularly chilling incident detailed in the series occurred on Nicole and O.J.'s first date, where violence reared its ugly head. Nicole's roommate, David LeBon, recalled her arriving home from work with a ripped zipper on her jeans, revealing that O.J. had been "a little forceful." The abuse escalated over time, leaving Nicole's friends and family deeply concerned for her safety.

Amidst the backdrop of parties and celebrity-filled gatherings at their Rockingham estate, Nicole's friends paint a picture of a woman who was trapped in an unhealthy relationship. Denise witnessed the abuse firsthand and even photographed Nicole's bruises. O.J.'s infidelity fueled frequent explosive fights.

The docuseries delves into the complex dynamics of Nicole and O.J.'s relationship, including O.J.'s attempts to control her life. He forbade her from having vaginal births or breastfeeding, making all decisions regarding their children. Nicole's desire for independence led her to leave O.J. in 1992, experiencing freedom for the first time.

Despite a brief reunion in 1993, Nicole eventually realized that the relationship was irreparable and officially ended it in May 1994. However, O.J.'s obsession with Nicole persisted, as she reported incidents of him stalking her and hiding in her bushes.

Tragically, on the night of June 12, 1994, Nicole's life was cut short when she was brutally stabbed outside her new home. Ron Goldman, a waiter at Mezzaluna, was also fatally stabbed. O.J. Simpson was famously acquitted of the double murder charges in 1995 but later found liable for their deaths in a civil suit filed by the Brown and Goldman families in 1997.

"The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson" offers a compelling and comprehensive look into the life of Nicole, highlighting the abuse she endured and the struggles she faced in her relationship with O.J. The docuseries serves as a reminder of the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence and the need for justice for victims.

Don't miss the gripping docuseries, which will air on June 1st and 2nd on Lifetime, as it uncovers the untold story of Nicole Brown Simpson's life, her tragic murder, and the impact it had on those who loved her.
