### Jamie Lee Curtis Opens Up About Plastic Surgery Regret and Advocates for Natural Beauty

Jamie Lee Curtis has openly discussed her experience with plastic surgery at the age of 25, spurred by a hurtful comment on a movie set. The Oscar-winning actress recounted in a "60 Minutes" interview that a cinematographer refused to film her one day, citing "baggy" eyes. This criticism led her to undergo plastic surgery, a decision she immediately regretted.

Curtis shared that the surgery did not go as planned and she has wished ever since that she had not gone through with it. "I've become a very vocal advocate for women to embrace their natural beauty," she said. "It was a mistake for me to have the surgery."

The actress revealed that post-surgery, she began using painkillers, which quickly developed into a dependency. "They give them to you," Curtis explained, reflecting on her initial exposure to opiates. "I became very fond of the warm feeling they gave me. Although I drank occasionally, I was very discreet about my substance use, but it definitely became a dependency."

Curtis candidly talked about her struggle with addiction, admitting in a 2018 interview with People magazine that her dependence on opiates spanned a decade, during which she hid her usage from everyone. Today, she has been sober for 26 years and speaks openly about her journey. "I'm fortunate that I didn't make life-altering decisions while under the influence," she said. She expressed empathy for women whose lives have been ruined by addiction, noting that many are not inherently bad but are victims of substance dependency.

Additionally, Curtis has raised concerns about the increasing trend of cosmetic procedures. She warned in 2021 that the obsession with fillers, filters, and other appearance-altering technologies is erasing generations of natural beauty. "Once you alter your face, there's no going back," she remarked.

Recently, Curtis also took to social media to address an issue involving the unauthorized use of her likeness in a "totally AI fake commercial." She called on Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg to assist in removing the misleading advertisement. Curtis emphasized her commitment to honesty and integrity, stating that the misuse of her image undermines her ability to speak her truth. Shortly after her public plea, she confirmed that the ad had been taken down, celebrating the success of her efforts online.

In sharing her personal experiences, Curtis continues to champion the importance of self-acceptance and the dangers of altering one's appearance or succumbing to addiction.
