**Cowboys QB Dak Prescott to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery**

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is set to undergo surgery on Wednesday to address a hamstring injury, effectively ending his season. Prescott, who signed the most lucrative contract in NFL history prior to the 2024 season, missed the Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In his absence, Cooper Rush filled in but delivered a lackluster performance, completing 13 of 23 passes for just 45 yards in a crushing defeat. Trey Lance later took over, managing to complete 4 of 6 passes for 21 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception.

The Cowboys have struggled this season, even with Prescott on the field. With him, they started the season with a disappointing 3-5 record. Without their star quarterback, the situation has worsened; the Cowboys now stand at 3-6, suffering from a four-game losing streak and a -82 point differential.

Historically, Prescott has maintained a strong record against the Eagles, boasting a 7-3 lifetime record in meaningful regular-season games. However, the Eagles have a 3-1 record against the Cowboys in games where Prescott has been sidelined due to injury. Specific matchups include:

- Week 8, 2020: The Eagles defeated Ben DiNucci in Philadelphia.
- Week 16, 2020: The Eagles suffered a loss to Andy Dalton in Dallas.
- Week 6, 2022: The Eagles bested Cooper Rush in Philadelphia.
- Week 10, 2024: The Eagles claimed victory over Rush in Dallas.

The Eagles will have another opportunity to face a Prescott-less Cowboys in Week 17. It remains to be seen whether Cooper Rush, Trey Lance, or another quarterback will lead the Cowboys when they visit Philadelphia later this season.

With Prescott's absence, the Cowboys face an uphill battle to salvage their season and will have to rely on the remaining roster to step up in his stead.
