In a groundbreaking development for iOS users, the game emulator Delta has officially made its way to the App Store after facing numerous rejections in the past. The creator of Delta, Riley Testut, has also taken a step further by introducing AltStore, an alternative app marketplace designed to address the long-standing issues with the App Store. These announcements were made by Testut in a recent blog post and on 9to5Mac's Overtime podcast on YouTube.

AltStore PAL, the Apple-approved alternative app marketplace, is now available in the European Union. This open-source app store has been specifically designed for independent developers, offering them a platform to showcase their creations. AltStore PAL aims to resolve the issues that both Testut and many others have encountered with the traditional App Store review process.

Initially, AltStore PAL will launch with two apps. The first, and the driving force behind the creation of AltStore, is Delta, an all-in-one Nintendo emulator. Delta not only builds upon the success of its predecessor, GBA4iOS, but also extends its support to include game systems such as NES, SNES, N64, and DS. Moreover, Delta will be available for free, without any advertisements, giving users a seamless gaming experience.

The second app offered in AltStore PAL is Clip, a real clipboard manager that can operate in the background. To access Clip, users will be required to make a small donation of €1 or more. However, once the functionality and performance of AltStore PAL are thoroughly tested, Testut plans to open doors to third-party apps, welcoming developers to distribute their applications through AltStore.

As for Delta's availability on the App Store, users can expect a versatile and comprehensive emulator experience. Delta not only supports a variety of game systems but also offers numerous features such as compatibility with Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, Joy-Cons, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X, and MFi game controllers. Additional features include the ability to save and load save states, prevent accidental overwriting of saves, and generate automatic backup save states to ensure progress is never lost.

Furthermore, Delta provides support for cheat codes across different supported systems and enables users to sync games, game saves, save states, cheats, controller skins, and controller mappings between devices. Users can also access version histories and restore earlier versions if needed. Integration with popular cloud storage services like Google Drive and Dropbox ensures seamless access to game data across devices.

Delta also offers an array of utilities such as built-in controller skins, the option to import or create custom skins, and the ability to choose buttons that Delta can hold down on behalf of the user. The emulator even allows users to fast-forward through slower parts of games and offers features like "peeking" with 3D or Haptic Touch. Convenient shortcuts and game artwork customization further enhance the user experience.

For iOS users eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Delta emulator, the wait is finally over. With its comprehensive features, extensive game system support, and seamless integration with AltStore PAL, Delta aims to revolutionize the way users experience gaming on their Apple devices. The availability of AltStore PAL also promises a new era for independent developers seeking a platform to showcase their applications.
