Carroll, who has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach, will be joining head coach Kenny Atkinson's staff.

Carroll, an 11-year NBA veteran, brings a wealth of experience to the Cavaliers. He previously served as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks and most recently with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he worked alongside assistant Jordan Ott, who Atkinson successfully lured away earlier this week.

The connection between Carroll and Atkinson runs deep, as they previously worked together during Carroll's two-year stint with the Brooklyn Nets. Carroll played a significant role as a part-time starter and veteran mentor for current Cavaliers players Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen during his time in Brooklyn. Additionally, Carroll had a two-year tenure with the Atlanta Hawks while Atkinson served as one of the top assistants on Mike Budenholzer's staff.

Throughout his NBA career, Carroll played for eight different teams and averaged 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds. Alongside Ott, Carroll is expected to be part of the Cavaliers' summer league coaching staff. The summer league is scheduled to begin on July 12 in Las Vegas.

Atkinson, who was hired recently as J.B. Bickerstaff's replacement, expressed his plans to bring in multiple assistant coaches who align with his vision for the franchise. He emphasized the importance of finding areas to improve and making tactical adjustments to move the team forward.

The addition of Carroll and Ott marks the beginning of Atkinson's coaching additions, with further additions expected ahead of the summer league. The Cavaliers are looking to build a strong staff that will help the team progress and make strides towards success.

The news of Carroll's arrival was first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, solidifying his new role within the Cleveland Cavaliers organization.
