In an unexpected turn of events, Euphoria actress Nika King has voiced her frustration and impatience regarding the long-awaited Season 3 of the hit HBO series. During a recent stand-up show, King candidly admitted she had no knowledge of the release date, exclaiming, "Don't ask me, I don't fucking know!" She humorously added that she was in dire need of the new season, as she hadn't been able to pay her rent for six months.
As fans eagerly anticipate the return of Euphoria, King playfully pointed her finger at her co-star Zendaya, who is currently busy promoting her new film, Dune: Part Two. According to King, Zendaya's commitments might be contributing to the delay in the show's renewal.
Despite her humorous approach to the situation, King also touched upon the challenges she has faced in her career since her involvement in the award-winning series. Revealing that she hadn't secured any acting roles since Euphoria, she expressed her disappointment, stating, "I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria. I thought I was good. It don't work that way."
King further shared her interaction with actress Taraji P. Henson, who also faced career obstacles caused by unfair treatment towards Black women in the entertainment industry. Referring to Henson's advice, King joked, "I called Taraji, she was like, 'Bitch, get used to it.'"
The actress holds a personal connection to her character on Euphoria, Leslie Bennett, as she revealed that her own childhood experiences growing up with a mother struggling with substance abuse made the role deeply meaningful to her. "For me, home was not a safe place," she disclosed at a mental health and recovery event. King expressed her belief that she was "born to play this role."
Although The Daily Beast has reached out to King for further comment, the actress has not responded as of yet. However, her bold and honest statements on stage have highlighted the struggles many actors face in the industry, including the unpredictability of securing consistent work.
As fans eagerly await the return of Euphoria for its highly anticipated third season, it seems that Nika King's frustrations resonate with the challenges and uncertainties that many actors face in their careers.
