**Disney Secures Broadcast Rights to the Grammy Awards Starting in 2027**

In a significant shift in the broadcasting landscape, the Grammy Awards will be moving to Disney's platforms starting in 2027. After over five decades of being aired on CBS, the annual music awards ceremony will now be showcased on Disney’s broadcast networks and streaming services, including ABC, Hulu, and Disney+. This transition was announced on Wednesday by Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden and The Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr.

The partnership agreement is set to last until 2036, marking a new era for the Grammys, which will be available through a broader array of channels. “As The Walt Disney Company joins forces with The Recording Academy to embark on this new chapter, we do so with pride and gratitude,” said Walden. She emphasized the growing importance of live events in today’s cultural and entertainment landscape and highlighted that acquiring the Grammys adds a valuable asset to Disney’s diverse programming portfolio.

The year 2027 will be particularly notable for ABC, which will air not only the Grammys but also The Oscars and Super Bowl LXI. This positions Disney's network as a prime hub for some of the most prestigious and widely-watched events in entertainment and sports.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. expressed excitement about the new collaboration with Disney. “We are completely thrilled to be bringing 'The Grammys' and other new music programming to the Disney ecosystem,” he stated, acknowledging the long-standing partnership with CBS while looking forward to the opportunities ahead with Disney. Mason highlighted that this partnership aligns with the Academy’s mission to uplift and serve music people globally and represents a strategic milestone in the Academy’s transformation and growth.

The most recent Grammy ceremony aired on February 4 and drew an impressive 16.9 million viewers, which was a 34% increase from the previous year. The move to Disney is anticipated to further boost the visibility and reach of the Grammys, leveraging Disney’s extensive distribution channels and technological capabilities.
