### Deshaun Watson Suffers Achilles Injury, Ruled Out Against Bengals
In a significant setback for the Cleveland Browns, quarterback Deshaun Watson sustained a severe injury during the team's Week 7 clash with the Cincinnati Bengals. The incident occurred late in the first half when Watson attempted to scramble up the middle and his right leg gave out. The quarterback went down immediately without any contact and stayed on the ground, visibly in pain.
Medical personnel promptly attended to Watson on the field, and he was eventually transported back to the locker room for further evaluation. Saddened by the turn of events, Watson was seen with a towel draped over his head, appearing to be in tears as he left the field. The Browns later confirmed in the third quarter that Watson had suffered an Achilles injury, officially ruling him out for the rest of the game.
The injury diagnosis was in line with what some had speculated from close-up footage, which suggested damage to Watson's right calf — a strong indicator of a torn Achilles, according to former NFL doctor David J. Chao. Before his untimely exit, Watson had delivered a decent performance, completing 15 of 17 passes for 128 yards. Though he had not managed to score, he had effectively moved the team into scoring range twice, including during the drive when the injury occurred.
In Watson's absence, Dorian Thompson-Robinson took over as quarterback. Previously the third-string quarterback, Thompson-Robinson had been promoted for this particular game. The team's veteran quarterback, Jameis Winston, had been named the emergency third quarterback but was inactive for the game. He was set to replace Thompson-Robinson only in the event of an injury.
Leading up to the game, Watson had a completion rate of 61.3 percent for 1,020 yards, with five touchdowns and three interceptions. His passer rating of 76.6 placed him 28th among 31 qualified quarterbacks in the NFL. This latest injury poses a significant challenge for both Watson and the Browns as they move forward in the season.
