Former Chicago Bulls wing DeMar DeRozan is still on the market as one of the most sought-after free agents, and recent reports shed light on why his signing has been delayed. According to sources, the 35-year-old veteran is seeking a contract worth more than the full mid-level exception that interested teams have offered thus far, as stated in a report by Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Teams have been willing to extend a full mid-level exception, which is around $13 million, to DeRozan, but he is currently not considering such offers. It seems DeRozan is aiming for a multi-year deal that surpasses the $13 million mark, which is understandable considering the contracts other aging stars have recently received in free agency.

For instance, James Harden, who will turn 35 next season, secured a two-year, $70 million contract from the Los Angeles Clippers, earning an impressive $35 million annually. Similarly, despite concerns over injuries, 34-year-old Paul George signed a four-year, $212 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

DeRozan's performance during the previous season showcased his value as a player. The skilled forward averaged 24.0 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds, shooting an impressive 48.0% from the field. Notably, he played in 79 games, illustrating his durability and consistency on the court.

As teams continue to gauge interest in DeRozan, the question remains which organization will be the first to secure his services. With his desire for a lucrative multi-year contract, it appears that DeRozan is seeking the final significant deal of his basketball career. Only time will tell what teams are willing to offer and what the future holds for this talented player.
