A Dallas couple who were injured in a hit-and-run collision allegedly involving Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice's car have hired an attorney and are considering their legal options, as reported by the Dallas Morning News. The incident occurred on Saturday while the couple was on their way to a friend's 50th birthday party.
According to eyewitnesses, the couple's white Lexus SUV was struck by two vehicles, with one allegedly being driven by Rice. The impact caused their car to spin across the highway until it collided with a wall. The couple sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. They are now recovering at home, but their injuries include a significant laceration above the woman's left eye that required multiple stitches in her eyelid, as well as a swollen and bruised right leg. Both individuals are also experiencing post-concussion symptoms.
The couple's attorney, Walker, expressed their anger towards the situation, emphasizing the importance of human decency and fulfilling legal obligations. Meanwhile, there were other victims involved in the crash including a 27-year-old mother and her 4-year-old son, whose car was rendered undrivable, and a separate victim in an Uber car that was T-boned.
Rice released a statement confirming his involvement in the crash, stating that he is cooperating with the authorities and will take responsibility for his actions. In a subsequent statement, he apologized for his part in the incident without specifying what it entailed. The question remains if Rice was driving the black Lamborghini, one of the vehicles involved in the collision. TMZ reports that Rice also owns a black Corvette but had leased the Lamborghini from a company called Classic Lifestyle for $1,749 per day. An attorney representing Classic Lifestyle confirmed that only Rice was authorized to drive the Lamborghini and that he had texted a promise of payment for the totaled car after the accident.
Video footage captured the individuals in both vehicles responsible for the accident fleeing the scene on foot. While the police are still investigating and have not officially identified any suspects, both the Chiefs and the NFL have acknowledged the situation.
As the investigation continues, the injured couple remains determined to pursue legal action and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
